AXIS is a six piece cover band that has been entertaining the Canberra party scene for many years. The group has dynamic male and female lead vocals, backed by a tight ensemble of keyboard, lead guitar, bass guitar and drums. AXIS has a big, electric sound and specialises in up tempo rock, pop, blues and funk numbers that fill the dance floor and keep it that way all night. There is also a selection of light acoustic numbers for occasions such as function dinners, and in these situations the band is adept at creating a warm ambiance without being intrusive. AXIS is ideal for weddings and functions requiring quiet background music early on and up tempo dance numbers as the night progresses, or for pubs and clubs that just want to pull in a crowd and get the dance floor moving. AXIS has a high quality PA system and a sound technician who ensures appropriate volume levels and a professional mix. |
Formerly a serious gospel singer, Chrissie May is used to singing for audiences of a thousand plus at major rallies. Having taken a break over the last year or so, Chrissie has now rejoined the music scene to front AXIS and lend her fabulous voice to some Top 40 covers.
Stephen Webb is highly regarded for his time as a professional rock star when he played with Black Feather, John English, Chariot and John Farnham and hung out with the likes of AC/DC. His session work has seen him in the credits for many Australian albums.
Ken McNally's bass is the other half of AXIS's rock solid rhythm section. Ken has been playing the bass for as long as he can remember, performing in various blues, rock, gospel, country and jazz bands around NSW and the ACT.
Julia Mayne’s contributions give AXIS its full sound. Her time with the keys has covered a variety of genres including gospel, pop, rock and blues. Vocally she has had extensive experience in harmony work, both in bands and vocal groups.
